
Although he dropped to 8th position after a crash at the start of the semi final he managed to climb up the order to finish on a save 2nd position securing himself a place in the 30 min main final.
In the main final Vogl was able to work his way up to 2nd position behind reigning world champion Robert Pietsch after some minutes. Later on Pietsch had a crash and damaged his rear rim. It took some time for him to get back in the pitlane and Vogl took over the lead. Pietsch tried to catch up after a quick repair in the pits, but time was to short and Vogl crossed the finishing line in first position followed by Robert Pietsch and Armin Baier"
